Personal Safety Devices for Asian Elderly - SA, TX

Donation protected
Due to the startling increase of violent and unprovoked attacks against Asian seniors, Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders for Justice in San Antonio (AAPIs for Justice SATX, under the 501(c)(3) fiscal agency of TCKidNOW is raising funds to donate personal safety devices, such as personal alarms, for Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) elderly in San Antonio.

According to the Center for the Study of Hate and Extremism, CSUSB, in 2020, the overall hate crime rate declined 7%, while anti-Asian hate crimes increased 149%.  San Antonio has not been exempt from anti-Asian hate (see local cases below).

We are asking concerned individuals who want to make positive change by donating or giving in-kind personal safety donations so we can help make personal safety/self-defense devices more accessible for AAPI elderly, especially those who may not may able to afford it.

****Our goal and accountability measure is to donate up to 200 devices (if we can keep the budget @ $10 per device) to AAPI elderly or other AAPI vulnerable individuals, such as women or youth being bullied as funds become available .****

****Help does not only have to be monetary. If you are a business and would like to donate new good quality equipment in bulk or personal safety device training in-kind, please leave a comment or message. ****

Fight hate with love by donating to help keep our most vulnerable community members safe!

Many AAPIs are reluctant to discuss these incidents publicly. Help us proactively protect our elders!  Thank you for doing your part to help keep AAPI elderly in San Antonio safe!

All donations, no matter what amount are appreciated. Every little bit helps! Join us in the fight to #StopAsianHate! Help protect Asian Seniors!

Transparency for accountability measures:
Our fiscal agent will help ensure monies are spent for the purposes described. Because budgets remain separate, fiscal agent is not to send tax deductible donation receipts for monetary donations. Fiscal agent may write a receipt for in-kind donations. There will be no administrative fee charged and 100% of proceeds will go towards the purchase of goods for donation.  We will keep track of the amount of devices distributed and may ask, but not require, a zip code.
