Diversion Fund for Guests In honor of Leigh Duffy

Since its inception, the Windham Region No Freeze Project in Willimantic has been blessed to have Leigh Duffy as a board member and then as its Executive Director. Leigh has decided to move on from the No Freeze as of May 31, 2019, to start a new chapter in her life.
For the past 8 years, Leigh has poured her heart and soul into the No Freeze, helping hundreds of people struggling with homelessness to have a safe, warm, caring place to stay and get assistance. She has improved the system that helps homeless people at both a state and local level. She has also implemented many new initiatives that have saved lives and secured housing for homeless men and women. Her tireless commitment, hard work, vision and kindness are tremendously appreciated and will never be forgotten!
During her eight-year tenure as executive director, Leigh created a special fund for No Freeze guests that she called the Diversion Fund. She used this pool of money to help people get back on their feet and obtain housing. The Diversion Fund has provided rent deposits, secured legal documents like IDs required to apply for housing, purchased nights in hotels, boarded pets so their owners could remain housed, and more.
The Board of Directors is honoring Leigh by creating the Leigh Duffy Diversion Fund that will forever be part of the No Freeze Project’s annual budget. We are inviting people in the community to join us in celebrating Leigh by contributing to this important fund. Every dollar you donate will be used to help people at risk of homelessness to stay off the streets.
