Diaspora, Did You Know (DDYK) is an initiative aimed at mobilising young Ghanaians in the UK to fundraise and make a meaningful contribution to Ghana’s development.
In alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals for 2030, DDYK and the Warwick Ghanaian Society (WGS) has facilitated a volunteering scheme to assist four charities in their respective monetary goals. These are:
Crime Check Foundation (CCF)
CCF advocate for unjustly imprisoned citizens. They provide easy access to legal support to inmates that cannot afford formal representation. CCF created a network that functions to integrate inmates back into society and provide housing and work opportunities to ensure a smooth transition.
Kaapouri Children’s Resource Foundation(KCRF)
KCRF dedicate themselves to raising awareness on the social exclusion of children with special needs. KCRF work to ensure they support the families, provide legal aid, and resource children with practical school items. Overall, their work carves opportunities for children to dream and reach their full potential.
Voice Ghana (Voice of People with Disability Ghana)
Voice Ghana is a non-governmental organisation with a focus on people with disabilities who have limited or no access to education. Voice Ghana seek out and resource individuals facing double discrimination based on gender, poverty and more. Through this, they raise awareness and facilitate quality education for people with disabilities.
Afrikids
Afrikids build sustainable infrastructure in communities to ensure these promote the agency and safety of the recipients. In this work, Afrikids also educate families and children within the community about their rights as outlined in the United Nations Convention.
