I am a disabled veteran who recently transitioned out of the military. On 03/24/2025, I underwent a lumbar laminectomy at Orthopedic Associates to relieve significant nerve compression affecting my spine and lower extremities. Unfortunately, after the surgery, I experienced severe post-operative complications, including an extreme neurological and physical reaction upon waking from anesthesia. I had episodes of uncontrolled movement and distress that required multiple medical staff to physically stabilize me, and I was given medications in an attempt to control the episode. Due to the severity of my condition, I was transferred to a higher-level hospital for further evaluation and monitoring to ensure I did not suffer permanent neurological damage.
In the immediate aftermath, I experienced severe physical impairment. I was unable to stand or walk, and I had significant weakness affecting my entire body. My arms and legs were barely responsive at times, and I had very limited ability to control basic movement. Medical staff closely monitored my neurological function and motor skills to determine whether I would regain normal mobility and function. Since the surgery, my recovery has remained difficult. I continue to have significant physical limitations, and at this time I am unable to lift or properly move my left leg, which has severely impacted my ability to function independently. This loss of mobility has been especially difficult and has affected my overall recovery process. Mentally and emotionally, I am struggling to cope. The combination of intense pain, loss of mobility, and uncertainty about my recovery has taken a significant toll on my mental health. I feel overwhelmed by the changes in my physical abilities and the limitations I am currently experiencing. Not being able to move my leg or function normally has been deeply distressing and has affected my sense of independence and identity.
I am creating this fundraiser because my medical bills and living expenses are continuing to grow while my ability to work and support myself has been severely impacted. Right now, I need help not only for myself, but also for my family as we try to navigate this difficult chapter together. Any donation, share, or support means more than I can properly put into words. Thank you to everyone who takes the time to read my story and stand beside me during this fight.
I never imagined I would be in a position where I needed to ask for help like this, but right now I truly need support. This experience has changed my life physically, mentally, and emotionally, and every day has been a battle to keep pushing forward. If you are unable to donate, even sharing my story would mean the world to me and my family. Thank you for taking the time to read my story, for your prayers, your support, and for standing beside me during one of the hardest times of my life.
