Dinner Plate of Hobart

Donation protected
Dinner Plate owner George Maltese has been working tirelessly alongside his brother Sam and local employees to keep the restaurant open during the pandemic and with the end in sight, they have been asked to re-locate.

George and Sam struggled through COVID-19, providing meals for the community at no profit. The pair, along with seven employees, have also been delivering meals to seniors and customers who were nervous about going out in public due to the pandemic.

The 645 Main Street eatery has been given the time frame of a mere 2 months to make way for an additional bookstore. This would not only leave the business without a home, but it would also force seven  excellent employees out of thier jobs.

The Dinner Plate has been in the village for 5 years and is a common stop for regular patrons. Aside from one additional restaurant, it is the only business which offers dinner in Hobart.

"The Dinner Plate became not only a favorite place to eat, but a place to meet," said George "The customers have become a part of our extended family."

George added that he is dreading putting his employees out of work because employment is scarce.

The Dinner Plate is looking to raise funds so they will be able to re-locate sooner than anticipated to Stamford. Work still needs to be done at that said location before moving in would be possible and funds are not available to expedite the process. With the current pandemic  restrictions,The building department in Stamford is shutdown .That being said No building Permits are available . Please join us in supporting the owners, employees and community, by donating what you can - all proceeds will go directly to working towards the re-opening of the restaurant in the Stamford location.  We will post photo's as work progresses in Stamford .

"Any help that can be offered is greatly appreciated," said George. "Thank you all so much. We truly hope to see you again."
