Dingle to Dingle: Walk Florrie Community Remembrance Journey

Donation protected
This July, a group of men from Liverpool’s Dingle will set off on a deeply meaningful journey, travelling from Dingle to Dingle as part of a community remembrance trip built around connection, friendship, and men’s mental health.

This is more than a walk or a trip abroad. It is a journey in memory of five much-loved members of Walk Florrie who are no longer with us. These men were at the heart of our group. They showed up, they listened, they supported others, and they helped shape the safe, honest, and welcoming space that Walk Florrie is today.

Their loss is felt deeply across our community. Every step of this journey is for them.

Walk Florrie is a men’s wellbeing walking group based at The Florrie in Liverpool’s Dingle. Each week, men come together to walk, talk, and support one another through life’s challenges. What started as a simple idea has grown into a lifeline for many, built on trust, openness, and brotherhood.

We are now taking that spirit further.

Departing on 10th July, the group will travel first to Galway for a two-night stay before continuing on to Dingle, where we will meet local communities, take part in shared walks, and connect with organisations including the Blasket Centre. We will also join a wellbeing walk and talk with a community group from Connemara.

The aim is simple. To build real, lasting connections between two Dingle communities, separated by geography but united by name, values, and lived experience.

At the heart of this journey is our message:
Mental Health Knows No Borders
“Níl aon teorainneacha ag baint leis an tsláinte mheabhrach.”

We are also proud to continue building on last year’s international trip to Vallecas, where Walk Florrie connected with another working-class community to share experiences and strengthen understanding across borders. That journey proved something powerful. Mental health struggles are universal, but so is solidarity.

This year, we carry that mission forward in memory of our friends, and in support of the future of Walk Florrie.

Why we are fundraising
This journey is being funded through community support. Every donation will help cover travel and accommodation costs, but more importantly it will support the ongoing work of Walk Florrie and The Florrie.

Your support helps us:
  • Continue weekly walking and wellbeing groups
  • Reach more men who need support and connection
  • Create safe spaces for open conversations
  • Build community projects that change lives
Without fundraising, this work simply cannot continue at the same level.

A message from Walk Florrie
This trip means everything to us. We are carrying our fallen brothers with us on every step of this journey. Dingle to Dingle was something we used to talk about on our walks, just a dream between mates. Now we are doing it for real, and doing it in their memory.

It is about connection, friendship, and showing that what we’ve built at Walk Florrie can go beyond Liverpool. We want to honour those we’ve lost and make sure their legacy continues in everything we do.

Support the journey
If you are able to support us, any donation makes a real difference and helps keep Walk Florrie going for the men who need it most.
