Spende geschützt

I own a pit bull called diesel, Diesel is our second pit. Our first pit passed away several years ago due to cancer, his name was Havoc. On 1-25-2020 my dog was the casualty of a hit and run. My wife was walking him at our usual walking spot, Calvary cemetery. There is a main road that goes across the cemetery from one end to another. There are no traffic lights in the cemetery, except for the traffic lights at both entrances. People usually use this road to cut across from Lauren Hill Blvd and Queens Blvd. People usually do not speed and go at a speed under 10. On 1-25-2020 at approximately 9:30 am, my wife was walking Diesel and they stopped due to the need for Diesel wanting to pee. After finishing his business, Diesel pulled on the leash to sniff the ground and just stepped on the road. My wife saw the car but thought the driver would have slowed down and would become cautious. Diesel was only several inches away from my wife and from the sidewalk. The driver, instead of slowing down, sped up and side struck Diesel. I do not know why he sped up, my assumption is that he wanted to catch the green light. My wife contacted me at 9:36 and I rushed to the scene. She told me the story and said the driver was going really fast and never stopped. I immediately rushed Diesel to the Animal Medical Center located at 510 E 62nd St, New York. He has been in the intensive unit for 2 days. Doctors tell us that he has air in his lungs and might have little brain damage. He also has bruises all over his body and his right paw seems not to be functioning. The doctors tell us that the hit from the car probably severed his nerves going to his right paw. In addition to his lungs containing air, brain damage, he might also require a leg or paw amputation.

We will be going to the cemetery today to see if the incident or the car was caught on any of the cameras they have. We are hoping to get the license plate of the car and take appropriate action.
My wife and I would appreciate any help with Diesel's medical bills.
