Help Diamond and I Stay Together

http://m.huffpost.com/us/entry/6704718    I adopted Diamond last August from a high kill shelter in Atlanta after her story touched my heart.   This sweet and sensitive dog had been at the shelter ready to be put to sleep when I first saw her - weak,  sick and malnourished.   She had been used in a fighting ring,  and sometime in her past people had poured battery acid on her head and body because she was not aggressive enough.   They sliced her ears off too.   After taking this sick and mutilated animal home,  I began seeing that she would sunburn easily when laying outside to recuperate.  So I went to a fabric store and bought different fabrics on clearance and began making her capes,  as well as pieces to wear on her poor head.   People love seeing her,  and she loves to get dressed up to go out .  The Huffington Post  ran her story,  and now Diamond the Diva Dog has love coming from a lot of people,  not just me.

Ten years ago I was a volunteer firefighter and also worked selling and training firefighters on extrication and rescue equipment at all the fire and EMA departments in Georgia ..... the man I worked with was the volunteer rescue chief of our county as well.  So I ran every call when in town from plane crashes to search and rescue  (I raised and trained bloodhounds for this volunteer position),  until the day the disk in my back got crushed.

The first surgery was a failure,  and when the surgeon operated on me again six weeks later he spliced into my spinal cord with his scalpel.   Since the surgery was done in Florida,  where there is no law for a doctor to have malpractice insurance,  I was pretty much left in chronic pain and limited mobility and couldn't work.   As a result,  I lost my house and everything else.   Finally I started getting disabilty payments of $850 a month  4 years ago and somehow have made it work.   But now I have been faced with moving from  the place where Diamond and I live.   The rent is going up,  and I simply cannot afford it.  Unfortunately,  my approaching anyone with the idea of renting a room in their home with Diamond has not received any interest.

I do not want to give her up - so this is my thought.   I need to generate more money so that we can stay here.  I can get a deal with a major pet supply chain for  merchandise at great prices to sell on our website.  This website will not only help Diamond and I stay together,  but I would like to donate  a portion of every sale to an animal rescue group to help them as well.  The cost of  setting up the website, and then hosting and advertising for a year,  will be around $5,000 .

If we do reach our goal I would like to give everyone who contributes 10% off all their purchases for the first 12 months ... you are free to take it off your total or donate it back to charity.  It is the least I could do for everybody's generosity and kind hearts.   I believe that if I work hard at this website that Diamond and I will be able to spend many more happy years together... thank you!
