KEEP OUR GRANDMA HOME ALS CAREGIVER

Our lives changed forever Novemeber 2014 due to our mom's (Lynda Mathieson) diagnosis with ALS. Until now we were able to get through the days without too much concern for her to be at home however that all changed on December 27th 2015 as her disease with ALS has progressed aggressively. Our mom was admitted to the hospital with some cardiac problems but has since been released but now needs immediate care 24/7 as she can no longer walk or talk ,her ability to be free on her own has been taken from her and with that the last thing we want is for her to ever have to leave her house. With the many doctor appointments, household improvements to make it wheel chair accesible, medications as well as proper equipment to help her through the day the costs start to add up, with our strong family ties we have been able to care for her as much as we can however we all have full-time postions as well as my one of my sisters lives out province it is hard to provide the care that my mom needs now . We absloutely need a nurse everyday to be able to keep her home as that is and has always been her wish to never leave her dwelling. The cost of a full time nurse is very expensive but worth every penny. Our dad is retired and at 75 has had his own recent medical problems and the added stress of taking care of her has taken a toll on his health as well. We need to do everything we can to keep her home as that is all she wants, this is a woman who gave to everyone her entire life and now it is time to give back to make her life full of comfort and peace at home.
