I'm sure that if you are reading this, it is because you know who I am and where I come from. I had my own troubles and issues growing up, but never longed for basic necessities. My troubles dealt with my mental and emotional state. Now at 42, I am glad to inform you all that those states of mine have been filling with joy and happiness for going on 2 years now. I now have a family of my own, a girl I love, and a boy we are raising together. Now basic necessities are what torment me. It has not been all sugar and gumdrops, though. Life has thrown a couple of jabs, and even though I stand here looking forward, I took some terrible blows.
I am more than happy to relay to you all that I am no longer homeless and haven't been for almost a year. It has not been easy, but moving to Laredo has really helped us move forward. We were able to both have full-time jobs, and, it wasn't easy, but started living in our own trailer that we called home.
Until I began feeling pain on my side, which was bearable, until it wasn't. I took a while to go see a doctor because I could not afford to miss work just having paid for our own home. So I worked through the pain and kept moving forward. Then one day, I could no longer. I went to the ER and received the worst treatment I could ever imagine from the LMC. They sent me home telling me all I had was a UTI. I went home, and the pain grew worse and worse. I couldn't go back to work and could not work through the pain. I was back in the ER in a week, only to find out I was about to go septic due to an infection in my kidneys, a terrible UTI, and a kidney stone the size of 1.8 cm that had been growing in me for months. They conducted emergency surgery within 1 hour of taking me in from the ER. The stone was too large for them to remove, so instead, they put in a stent. I was told to come back to the hospital, and they would remove the stent and the stone. Long story short, they did not remove either because I don't have insurance.
I've not worked in 2 months, and I am behind on my rent this month, and my bills are stacking up to the point where eviction is a very possible future outcome. The surgeries need to be paid upfront along with consultations. The stent needs to come out, with a period of 3 weeks max; it's been 5.... Yet no doctor will take it out without pay. And the ER, where I got the stent implant, basically said if I'm not dying, they can't perform surgery.... Antibiotics are vital yet very expensive. I am out of antibiotics once more. There are many of my friends from my childhood that have helped me more than I can ever repay them, but they have their own lives and troubles. I cannot keep putting them out. I ask for help from the community. Please, if anyone can help me, I will always be grateful for your donation.
$6000 is a lot of money, so I don't expect it all to be done. I put it that high because it was suggested by the app. Honestly, it's more than the rent and bills I have currently, but I am still expecting another surgery. So, technically, it's less than what I'll need in the end. But I am also not relying fully on this donation stuff.
Even if all you have to give is $5 or $20, it will be appreciated and gets me that much closer to my goal. If you want to reach me, you can message me on Facebook.
