Developing Nation Health Outreach

Hello friends, family, and new faces!  I am a 4th year Intern completing my Doctor of Chiropractic degree at the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College. 

I have been selected as one of 12 grateful interns to take part in an international learning experience and provide care to individuals and families in need in a developing nation.  From April 3rd-14th, our group of interns along with two clinical faculty, will move across the Dominican Republic; we will set up clinic in areas where access to healthcare is scarce, and offer treatment and healthcare services to over 1,000 patients over the course of 8 days.  Our journey will be hosted by Dr. Lopez, Director of the Americas for Physicians for Peace and Founder of Fundación Sol Naciente, Inc.  Both organizations strive to provide health services to vulnerable communities.    

I have been fortunate enough to participate in a global education program in the past, and it has shaped me both personally and professionally.  This would be an opportunity for me to apply the diagnostic and treatment skills I have been honing over the past four years in preparation for my career while at the same time, allowing me to be a hands-on part of the only form of healthcare that many of these individuals will recieve over the course of their lives.

The cost of this outreach is $1700 which includes insurance, flights, food, accommodation, as well as a donation to Dr. Lopez's clinic.  As I am in my eighth and final year of post secondary education, I have accrued a great deal of debt in preparation for graduation.  I am humbly seeking the support of family, friends, and community members to assist with the financial aspect of this volunteer outreach.
