Operation One Family

Hello everyone,
The Detroit Helpers Committee is a Wayne State University student organization that is focused on helping the less fortunate in Metro Detroit. We are currently in the process of a project known as Operation One Family in which we have decided to help local families in need. There are 3 families that really need your help that live in OUR community, Dearborn. The first family consists of is a handicapped mother that cannot walk. She is a refugee from Iraq. No father figure in the house, the kids are orphans and need help paying for rent and other utilities. She receives food stamps and social security, but not enough to cover her monthly payments. The 2nd family that needs help is a mother of four kids. Three of the kids have mental disabilities and mother herself has a few physical illnesses such as blood clots in her lungs. No father figure in the house, got deported last February. Her youngest daughter (age 5) has been recently diagnosed with a rare disease in her colon. First case they seen in a 5 year old at Children’s Hospital. The mother has no financial income coming it; not even food stamps. Her biggest fear is not being able to pay off her monthly rent so the owner won’t kick them out. The 3rd family that needs help is a mother of three kids, ages seven, five, and three. Parents are divorced. Father is not paying any child support and mother only receives food stamps from the government. Mother is not able to work because she has no one that could take care of her kids. This family was sleeping in a small compact area with one bed for all four. Daughter used to sleep in the stroller until we were able to find a new clean house for rent and refurnished it. Family really needs help paying for monthly rent until the mother could start working.
Please keep in mind that these families do not have anyone here! Please help out in this beautiful cause so these families could start on their feet again.
