Denae's Dublin Internship Program

I'm a little ashamed of my need to write this, but like my mom always says, "You can't expect people to help you if you don't tell your story." So here I am: telling my story, and asking for your help.

For the past two years at Boston University, I have focused on trying to build a foundation for a future my parents could be proud of. And for the last 20, my parents have done their best to provide me with a life I've always been grateful for. It's no suprise that when I told them I wanted to study abroad, albeit nervously, they encouraged to me to take advantage of the chance to leave the country for the first time in my life, and be immersed in a new culture.

An oppurtunity has been presented to me to study, and intern, this spring in Dublin, Ireland. If I am able to go, I will fly out mid-January, and return at the end of April.

The only thing standing in my way?  Money.

For a lot of you reading this, I haven't been the best at keeping in touch.  For that, I truly apologize. I've struggled a lot with the idea of crowdfunding from loved ones I don't talk to frquently, mainly because I know the infrequency of my communication can come across as negligent and dismissive, but to be completely honest, I am overwhelmed. While the last two years at BU have been quick, they have been challenging. It's hard to admit it, but I am very unhappy in Boston.

Recently, issues surrouding my mental and emotional health have become more prominent. My collegiate courseload has made living, and learning, with ADD even more difficult. I have quit all of my extra curricular activities, am recieving professional mental health treatment, and trying my best to remained focused on my studies.

This is why now, more than ever, I am aching for a change of scenery.

While abroad, my tuition will be covered by the finacial aid, and loans, that pay for my tuition at BU. However, there are added out-of-pocket expenses I must take into account, which the money I raise here will go toward. This includes airfare, food, local transportation expenses, books, my passport, my student visa, and lastly, personal spending. This all totals to an estimated $6,000.  My parents are unable to provide me with the entire amount, but will be able to assist me with some. Your donation will help me fund the difference. I have recently taken on a second job, but even with working 25+ hours a week, I cannot save such a large amount of money in such a small amount of time.

However, with your help, studying abroad can become a reality. I will not only be able to add this program to my resume, which will give me an edge when applying for full time positions next spring, but I will be one step closer to finding mental and emotional peace.

It is impossible for me to put into words what your donation will mean for my future, but please know that your donation, no matter the amount, will go a long way.

So thank you. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Your help will not go unnoticed. I am eternally grateful for whatever amount you are able to donate at this time. If you can, please share this with anyone you think will be able to help as well. Thank you again.

All my love,
Denae
