Help Us Support Debra Russell’s Recovery Journey
Our family is asking for help on behalf of my beloved stepmom, Debra Russell. At 72 years young, she has always been strong and full of life, but recent medical challenges have turned her world upside down.
Debra underwent a right knee replacement on June 14, 2025, hoping to regain mobility and independence. However, her recovery has been anything but smooth. After multiple hospital stays in Abilene and Breckenridge, Texas—including time spent at Hendrick North and Stephens Memorial—she suffered a stroke that has affected the right side of her body. What started as a path to healing has become a fight to recover basic mobility and daily function.
She is currently at wind crest Nursing Home in abilene receiving swing bed therapy, but her insurance only covers 21 days—and 18 of those have already been used. After July 26, the cost of care becomes $203 a day, which is impossible for Debra and my father to afford on their fixed income.
My dad, who is 64 and battling his own health issues including a broken back, is doing everything he can—but he cannot care for Debra on his own. We are asking for your support to help us extend her stay at the nursing home and get her the therapy she needs and deserves.
Every donation, no matter how small, will go directly toward Debra’s rehabilitation. Your kindness can give her the chance to rebuild her strength and return home safely.
Thank you for reading, sharing, and supporting.
