Aloha everyone. First and foremost, thank you for all of your support for Lauren with the Lahaina Fires. Unfortunately tragedy has followed her yet again after trying to rebuild. It also proved to her that being humble doesn’t mean help couldn’t be asked for. You all showed up when she needed it most. Please see her story below.
Aloha. When I thought I lost it all, life really shows me what “all” means. One year ago, I lost my only daughter, soon to be granddaughter and son in law to the Lahaina Fire in 2023. Traveling for a last minute work trip, I was unable to save them. I live with that regret everyday. I have picked up the pieces and relocated to Reno, NV and have worked on my healing journey.
If you haven’t already seen on National News, the Davis Fire started on Saturday September 7th. There are over 15,000 people evacuated, I was one of them. I left with very little as there was not much time to gather things with how quickly the fire was spreading. The fire is at 0% containment. Losing everything I had to the Lahaina fire makes this hit too close to home for me. I have tried to rebuild here and to have it all taken away by a fire (again) is devastating. Why? Why is this happening again?
There are others that have already lost their homes, including myself. We’re hoping for the best for everyone in the immediate path. I am reaching out for any Kokua from back home as my ties here in Reno, NV are very minimal as I am fairly new to the community. This is a wonderful community providing assistance to many families out here. Mahalo to all
