In Memory of David Rakoff - Central Park Bench
David Rakoff was the quintessential New Yorker. Like Walt Whitman and E.B. White, like Dorothy Parker and Frank O'Hara, like Fran Lebowitz and Lou Reed.
For so many of us, David absolutely defined New York.
So let's reserve a small piece of the city that David called "his one true love." A place where people who loved him can always return to read one of his books, or laugh at one of his jokes, or just imagine that we are sitting with David once again, on a bench, in a park, in New York, right where he belongs.
Donations to this bench will go to the conservancy of Central Park. Please feel free to let anyone know who might like to contribute. Once the bench has been assigned, I will give you the intel so you'll all know exactly where to find and enjoy it.
Thanks so much,
Alexa Junge
