What is Darul Aman: House of Protection?
A project was initiated in Magdeburg, a city in Germany, to establish/build an Islamic society. It's a big project that is consisted of many small subprojects:
- Masjid
- Quran & Hadith Learning (Males & Females separated sections)
- Islamic school for kids (Boys & Girls separated sections)
- Islamic Library
- Burial services
- Nikkah (marriage services)
- Halal slaughterhouse
- Sports hall (Separated areas for Males & Females)
- Volunteer services
The goal of Darul Aman:
Learn the orders of Allah (mentioned in the Quran) and the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ) (narrated in Hadiths) and bring them into our lives.
A frequently asked question was which group Darul Aman would belong to. When we say an Islamic organization, it only belongs to Allah, which means there will be only one law, and that is Islam.
What is Islam?
Islam is the best social system that can bring prosperity to my home, neighborhood, city, country, and world. Muslims have become very conservative and think only Ibaadat (praying five times a day, reciting the Quran, doing Dhikr) is enough, and that is Islam.
NO. Islam is much more than that. Around 5% of our day comprises Ibaadat, and the 95% is my dealings with others (family, neighbors, friends, the other living beings (humanity and others)).
وَٱعْبُدُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَلَا تُشْرِكُوا۟ بِهِۦ شَيْـًۭٔا ۖ وَبِٱلْوَٰلِدَيْنِ إِحْسَـٰنًۭا وَبِذِى ٱلْقُرْبَىٰ وَٱلْيَتَـٰمَىٰ وَٱلْمَسَـٰكِينِ وَٱلْجَارِ ذِى ٱلْقُرْبَىٰ وَٱلْجَارِ ٱلْجُنُبِ وَٱلصَّاحِبِ بِٱلْجَنۢبِ وَٱبْنِ ٱلسَّبِيلِ وَمَا مَلَكَتْ أَيْمَـٰنُكُمْ ۗ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يُحِبُّ مَن كَانَ مُخْتَالًۭا فَخُورًا
Surah Nisaa (4:36)
Worship Allah ˹alone˺ and associate none with Him. And be kind to parents, relatives, orphans, the poor, near and distant neighbors, close friends, ˹needy˺ travelers, and those ˹bondspeople˺ in your possession. Indeed Allah does not like whoever is arrogant and boastful.
Our main focus:
Masjid is the only place where we can bring the whole Ummah together. Apart from masjid, our major focus is on the following two sections:
1. Islamic School for children:
Our primary concern will be that each child coming to Darul Aman will learn good morals (Ikhlaaq) and practice them along with their prayers (Salah, Quran recitation, Dhikr).
We will focus on teaching the children about the morals of Islam. Priority is the character building of the children. Each kid in Darul Aman must be a role model for others because they are the future of this city and representative of Islam.
What is meant by character building?
- Respecting the elders (we will take them to old homes to take care of the elders in this city)
- Sharing their food (even if my son is hungry, he will share his food with others first)
- Helping hand for others (will help parents at home, teachers in schools, friends and ...)
- None of the children will be taught about any topic other than Quran and Sunnah (Only Fadail teachings).
- !! Important- Habit of reading the Dua mentioned in Hadith(s) (e.g., Dua for protection, Dua before going to sleep etc.) and offering five times prayers must be developed in each kid (Alhamdulillah, we are already taking care of this).
In short, each kid will be the real Ummati of Muhammad (صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ).
2. Volunteer services:
This section is solely to create an Islamic social system in this city. We will be the free helpers in this city and later out of this city. What will we do?
- Welcome the foreigners/travelers coming to this city.
- Free daycare center for kids and old people.
- Assist in finding apartments for newcomers.
- Translation services for people who can’t speak German (translators in foreign offices, hospitals, police stations and other institutions).
- Assistance in filling out application forms and others.
- Free German language course.
- Food for the hungry and poor (I am already doing this, taking the rest food from restaurants at night and giving it to the homeless people). We will do it in a proper systematic way Insha’Allah.
In short, Darul Aman will voluntarily help everyone in this city.
