Darlington South Park Marathon
Donation protected
Although I strongly believe running around in a park for 5 hours is a private matter, I thought I would share this challenge I'm about to embark on with you, my friends and community.
I started training during the lockdown for the Budapest Marathon in October thinking things might be different by then but I guess things just aren't different enough. I won't be able to take part in that race, but I've decided to run it anyway.
I've really enjoyed my training as it brought stability and structure to my life during these uncertain times.
When it comes to running, my biggest inspiration is my father, who started running Marathons at a later age and is an incredibly committed and determined athlete. I have seen him crossing the finish line many times. He has been coaching me over the phone these past few months and it is sad for me that he will not be able to be here in person to support me. He is over 70 now, but I know he is secretly planning on one more Marathon. If that is to happen I am hoping to run alongside.
There is no better motivation than to know that what we do benefits something bigger than us, and that is why I'd like to run this little fundraising campaign for these local community causes that mean a lot to me:
1. St Teresa's Hospice
2. Darlington Dolphins Table Tennis Club
3. Friends of South Park
Whatever little you're able to contribute will be well used and much appreciated.
I will be running on the 29th of September in South Park from 9:00 in the morning and if you see me I'm the one with pen marks on my arm as that's the only way I can keep track of the number of laps completed!
Whether you're able to send money or an encouraging thought of support on the day, I am equally very grateful.
