THE DARK HORSE FESTIVAL
Produced by London Playwrights Workshop
Part of London Writers Week 2016

London Playwrights' Workshop is a not-for-profit organisation run by writers, for writers, aiming to help London's playwrights take the next strides in their careers.

The Dark Horse Festival, supported by Arts Council England, is our first new writing event, and we're running this campaign to make it as successful as it can possibly be!

About the Festival:
The Dark Horse Festival showcases the best unproduced scripts in London, selected by London Playwrights Workshop. The showcase will feature rehearsed readings of script excerpts of five new plays from the most exciting new voices in London. Selected through nominations from new writing theatres and contacts with emerging playwrights, this script festival shows the wide range of London’s playwriting talent, and celebrates the new work being created in this community.

The Dark Horse Festival will take place on Thursday 7 July 2016 at Drama Centre London, with bonus content appearing on London Playwrights' Blog throughout the month.

Who's Involved?
This event is supported by Arts Council England and the MA Dramatic Writing at Drama Centre London at Central Saint Martins.

Writers (as pictured): Sonali Bhattacharyya, Eva Edo, Sophia Chapadjiev, John Murray, Ash Sohoye

Directors: Jennifer Bakst, Tristan Flynn-Aiduenu, Sean Linnen, Lynette Linton, Kym Martin

Producers: A.C. Smith, Kimberley Andrews, and the LPB Team

We're really proud of this talented and accomplished team - you can read more about them on our website: www.londonplaywrightsblog.com.

The money:
This event costs over £10,000 to support, and the LPB team has been running workshops for a year to raise funds.

Thanks to Arts Council England and a private donor, we've covered the bulk of our costs. But we haven't quite crossed the finished line.

We've set our 'GoFundMe' goal to the minimum amount that will allow us to run this festival. This funding will support payment of the actors and directors involved in the festival.

We're really grateful for your support, which will help us make the festival the best it can be!

Fundraising beyond this goal will allow us to deliver the festival at an even higher level, and will be put towards future activities for playwrights.

Whether you can give £5, £50, or £500 (or even just £1!), this will help make a difference.

We appreciate your support for new writing in London - we believe in these voices of tomorrow, and appreciate your support in sharing their work!

Thank you!
