Darin Johnson -Brain Cancer Fundraiser

Hi, my name is Jessica and I am raising money for my significant other, Darin.

Darin was diagnosed with a glioblastoma brain tumor on Christmas Eve, 2023. He got sick very unexpectedly, after visiting his son Brandon, out of state. When he got home, he was sick for about three weeks and after going to the emergency room was diagnosed with a large brain tumor. We were told that he would need to be transferred to another hospital for brain surgery, right away. On December 26, 2023, he had surgery. The doctors were able to remove most of the tumor and then he was advised that he would have to have both radiation and chemotherapy treatments moving forward.

The treatments are in Albert Lea, but he is staying with me in Mason City. We need to travel 45 minutes every day, each way, Monday thru Friday, for treatments. This means that we are getting gas every other day and the meals needed for him to keep his strength up after treatments.

Darin is self employed and has not been able to work since this started, in December. No one had any idea that he was sick, so being that this came on suddenly, there are expenses that could not be planned for.

While undergoing treatments, Darin has been staying with me. After checking on his home one day, we found that the furnace had gone out causing a pipe to burst. By the time we walked in his home, the ceiling was on the floor and the house was flooded from the top floor through the basement. The insurance is covering some but not all of it.

Darin loves God and his family. He really enjoys working, although he is unable to at this time. He enjoys fixing things and getting together with friends.
