Hi! We're Dan and Rachel. We've been married since October 2012, and we're excited about beginning our family. James 1 says "religion God accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress". We have prayed about adopting for years, and believe now is the time to begin the process. We hope you'll join us in supporting our journey.
Some facts:
Between 2009 and 2013, 45% of all pregnancies in the United States were unintended; this means that almost 5 in every 10 children were either concieved at a time the mother wasn't ready, or did not wish to become pregnant at all. Of the unintended pregnancies, it is estimated that 42% were terminated.
In 2015, there were approximately 670,000 children that went through (or remained) in the US foster care system. Some studies indicate that about 135,000 children are adopted each year, meaning potentially hundreds of thousands of children do not have the stability and care of a loving home.
While we cannot create a home for each of these children we know we can provide a home for one.
How Can You Help?
Ask us how we are doing. Pray for us. Pray for our future child. Pray for the child's parents and family. Give materially (diapers are expensive). Give financially.
250 of you giving $100 each would help us to reach our goal. 250 of you! Adoption costs through the agency we have chosen total $35,000. We also will need to be ready financially to live out of Virginia for up to 2-3 weeks while legal paperwork clears the state in which we adopt. We estimate the total adoptions cost to exceed $40,000. (And we'll still need diapers.)
