Dakota's costly vet bills

Hi, my sister's dog (formerly my father's dog) Dakota started acting really lethargic out of nowhere. My sister rushed her to the vet who immediately referred her to an animal hospital. A costly exploratory surgery revealed that she had a lacerated liver. It is believed that she was hit with a small rock as a neighbor was mowing the lawn. Surgery was performed and they were able to save Dakota's life.

Unfortunately, the story does not end there. The surgery caused nerve damage and this caused "knuckling" with her back legs and paws. It is a form of partial paralysis. Nicole did everything the vet requested, and more, she bought little boots for her paws to prevent them from scrubbing on the ground, she did countless hours of exercise with Dakota, and she provided daily ointment for Dakota. It was not enough. About a week ago, Dakota had a small cut on her paw and began chewing at it. With virtually no feeling in that paw, she almost chewed one of her toes off.

As I type this, my sister and nephew are on the way to the vet to have another surgery to amputate the toe. From there, she has to see a neurologist. Nicole has a long road ahead but to her credit, she had her moment, wiped her tears, and immediately began attacking the problem.

My sister doesn't know about this GoFundMe, she will find out with the rest of the world. She immediately began looking for additional work. She applied for multiple part-time jobs and currently sells beer with my brother at events at Hard Rock Stadium.

She's doing all she can, and then some. I just wanted to reach out to the community and see if we can boost her up a little more.

If you're an animal person, you know what they mean to you and what you would do for them, combine that with the fact that Dakota was my Dad's dog before his passing and there is nothing that is going to stop my sister.
