LaPorte Farms

Donation protected
Many of you know or have heard of the beautiful farm located down Roseland road in Sebastian, Florida. The owner is Laura LaPorte. A kind, generous, thoughtful, hard working, women who puts everyone else in need before herself. I have been working here at LaPorte Farms for 3 years and every day that I come to the farm in the morning, she always has a positive attitude and she's ready to take on the day. She has many animals here for the public to come and visit and she has admission as only a donation and she's open 7 days a week. Monday-Friday 8 am until 2 pm and Saturday and Sunday's 8 am until 4 pm. The animals include goats, chickens, zebra, zebu, ponies, bunnies, parrots, peacocks, turtles, geese, pigs, monkeys, llama, sheep and turkey's. She has purchased most of these animals out of her own pocket. She does many fundraisers and events for the public to get the community together and to show what such little things we can do for the community. She just got done with organizing a Back To School event for the kids heading back to school. She handed out over 250+ bookbags with supplies with help from private and small business's. She had a candle light service for Jackson Hunter who had cancer. She has fishing tournaments every few months with trophies. She had the American Cancer Society Relay For Life, a kick off for teams of cancer. She has Fall Festivals, she puts up over 100,000 lights for Christmas which she sponsors Christmas for families, she had a boxcar drive in movie, she has a Easter Event every year, she was voted Women of the Year in 2011 and 2012 by Sebastian Rotary and Sebastian 4th of July. As you can see, she is always planning something for the community. But most of you don't know due to her not making it known that Laura has not had an easy life at all. She suffers from Muscular Dystrophy and she got into a really horrific accident in 1999. She had a stroke in April 2015 and now she is unable to move her arms or legs and now she is confined to a wheelchair and has to have 24 hour full time care/assistance for her and people to take care of the farm. She also had a loss of a kidney in 2016. Also, she had to have her gall bladder removed after staying In the hospital for high blood pressure. She has had several hospital stays during 2016 due to very high blood pressure and many other serious health issues. If you've ever met Laura LaPorte you would know she never focuses on these problems of her own, she stays positive and keeps things going at the farm and is always trying to find a way to help someone in need and to make things bigger and better. There has been many health problems for her which has put her workers, friends, and family at a scare. Laura is in serious need of medical equipment that will dramatically improve her way of life by helping her gain back her strength and recover some movement. As you guys know, medical equipment is very costly... And as of now it's not an option to purchase it. Let's all get together and show her that we can help her and let's give back! Anything helps and I know she will greatly appreciate everything donated to her and her farm.
