Raj Hamit is one of the most infectiously sweet people I have met here while in Sri Lanka. He has looked out for me on several occations as well as my friends and has been one of the most caring and trust worthy people I have met as a woman alone in Sri Lanka. 

Raj worked for the Red Cross for 17 years helping people all over the world by transporting workers and translating between five languages, English, Singhalese, Tamil,  Arabic, and Malay to create a cohesive work enviornment internationally. 

I was extemely saddened to hear that his father has recently suffered a stroke in which the procedure for a heart ByPass surgery will cost his family 750, 000 ruppees or about 5,800 dollars. 

Unfortunately, two years ago he retired and no longer has health insurance that would have covered his father's surgery.  He is willing to sell everything he owns to keep his father alive, including his beloved tuk-tuk (that he just purchased) but I would hate to see that happen as he has already suffered the lost of his mother and his wife, and still has two young daughters at home.
