My Story: Hello, I am Aubrey Shannon. I was born with a congenital heart defect (Hypertrophic-cardiomyopathy). My whole life is a blur of hospital visits, appointments, treatments, and anxiety. As I grow older, my condition worsens. I've learned that heart disease doesn't just affect the heart, it affects every part of your life.
But here's the thing, I'm very lucky. Thanks to medical advancements funded by organizations such as AHA (American Heart Association), I have treatments, to help me live my life as normally as possible. I'm here today. Now I want to give that same hope to others as well.
Why I am Fundraising: Heart disease is the #1 leading factor of death worldwide, killing 1 in 4 people, including 1 in 100 babies born with congenital heart defect. While many treatments exist, there's still no cure. That's why I'm raising fund to support AHA funded research that could ...
- Save lives by funding live-changing treatments
- Prevent heart attacks
- Give hope to families facing heart disease.
Donation: Every dollar raised will go directly to the American Heart Association, the #1 funder of heart disease research in the U.S, to support the studies that could change the upcoming future for heart defect patients all over the world.
Future: In the upcoming future, I hope to become my own non-profit with a board of directors, and 501c3 certified. Once my fundraiser grows, I want to give out grants for families in need of treatment that are low-income. Help to support that wish!
