I created the CUDDLE: A CLOSE EMBRACE outreach project in 2008 as an answer to the question: What can I do to comfort children in need? I love to crochet, knit and sew. With these crafts I can fill a need many parents experience: a way to provide warm baby clothes & comfort toys for their newborn child. I am passionate about CUDDLE as international, non-profit project because I believe all children deserve a comfortable start in life. I love to craft CUDDLE items every day!
MISSION: To give children a warm welcome-to-the-world CUDDLE. I give babies a CUDDLE doll, cardigan, beanie & booties set and a cocoon sleeping bag. I share these gifts with organisations that give them to the babies.
CUDDLE has donated to:
- Operation Smile (Bangkok, Thailand)
- Child's Dream (Chiang Mai, Thailand)
- various children's homes in Asia
- a preschool in Cambodia
- The Grace Factory (Johannesburg, South Africa)
CUDDLE currently donates to:
- The Baby Box Project (Johannesburg, South Africa)
- Stichting Babyspullen (Heerhugowaard, The Netherlands)
The Baby Box Project and Stichting Babyspullen: These organisation give maternity packs to new parents living in poverty in South Africa and The Netherlands. The bags and boxes contain baby clothes & baby care supplies. The items I make are included in these packs. I hope to join a hospital visit & item distribution again soon!
Financial donations will help a great deal to cover the costs of the CUDDLE craft supplies & postage.
