GYM UNIFORMS

As a P.E. teacher in Chicago, I am constantly encouraging my students to be active and always emphasizing the importance of living a healthy lifestyle. I think the best way to teach these ideas is leading by example. On October 12, 2014, I will be running my 8th marathon. Each marathon that I have run has been dedicated to a specific cause/charity. This year, I have decided to run the 26.2 mile race to help the kids that I teach.

I work at a wonderful charter school, Horizon Science Academy Belmont, and I will be raising money to ensure that each student has a gym uniform. My goal is to raise a minimum of $4,000 to help provide kids in grades K-6 with this necessary item. By providing them with uniforms, we are showing students that we value physical education and understand that having separate clothes that they can be active in is crucial to their school experience. By investing in their physical education, we are investing in their overall health and well being. As the students P.E. teacher, this will be a great learning lesson for the students! They will see how to set a goal, train hard, and complete the task. The students can apply this to anything they do in life.
