Dear friends,
as many of you know, I, my niece Elena Marrucci and Francesco Senni, spent three weeks in Arusha, Tanzania, where we worked as volunteers, Elena and I as doctors and Francesco as a math teacher, in a hospital and an orphanage.
We met kids with a fiercely, limitless love of life, and an immeasurable need of love.
Because of the poverty level and lack of health education these children are among the most vulnerable populations and are at high risk for developing illness. Living in rural areas cuts off access to adequate healthcare, leading to high percentages of infant mortality.
Cradle of love Baby Home (http://www.cradleoflove.com/) was the first charity orphanage in Arusha, Tanzania. They have rescued over 400 babies since they opened 12 years ago, most, if not all, would have died without their intervention.
Cradle of Love is fully funded by donations, and provides the children with care until they are old enough to return to family members or to be placed with an adoptive family.
We visited the Cradle of Love , and committed ourselves to help the orphanage any way we can.
This month, one of the baby of the orphanage, Elisha, became severely sick. He suffers of a serious complications of cryptorchidism. Elisha is in severe pain, and requires an urgent surgical operation.
The total money for the admission to the hospital and the operation is 1500 EUR, a cost that the orphanage cannot afford.

Because the organization is supported solely by private donations, meeting needs of the babies every month can become unmanageable.
All remaining money will be given to the orphanage to cover the costs of monthly expenses:
1) Infacare Formula: 5 tin/day = 40 EUR/day = 1200 euro/month.
2) Week supply fresh food (this includes a very wide variety of fresh vegetable, fresh fruits, milk, eggs, beans, grains, herbs and nuts). 800 euro/month.
3) Nappies: 20 nappies/month = 40 EUR/month.
4) Electricity: 80 EUR/month.
5) Cooking Gas 120 euro/month.
6) Salaries for one caregiver: 80 euro/month.
7) Kids with special needs and diet like HIV positive and malnutrition and medical budget : 400 euro/month.
TOTAL: 2720/ months
No matter what you donate, 1 or 100 euro, you will always hold a special place in the hearths fo the children you helped.
