Wally's Wall
Donation protected
Walter Mikus spent his career working in the corrugated boxes game. Yup, the man was a magician with sheets of corrugated cardboard, so it was no surprise when he designed "Wally's Wall."
The surprise is that my father designed "Wally's Wall" while he was terminally sick with cancer.
Last fall, Walter designed a wall complete with detailed blueprints, specs and dimensions. The wall would provide him privacy while in our home and equally important the wall would provide a blank canvass to sign and leave inspirational messages from the countless visitors (In fact, my dad had this puppy filled with notes, pictures, Buffalo Bills stickers, you name it....from top to bottom).
The wall was made of corrugated cardboard and appropriately named "Wally's Wall."
In honor of Wally, his family would like to help produce "Wally's Wall" and donate the walls where we can. (The first place to start is certainly hospice, an organization we simply can't thank enough).
To get things started, in true Walter Mikus fashion: A fishing derby. My father absolutely loved and lived to fish.
So this Saturday, me and a group of my friends will be holding a little fishing derby in Buffalo. Nothing too fancy. A way for families to get together and enjoy a day on the pond.
But if you have a few bucks lying around and would like to donate....we want to start a fund to produce "Wally's Wall" and raise a glass to the fella, while we've got another fish on!
