Help Me Rebuild My Business After Devastating Theft

UPDATE: ITEMS WERE FOUND BUT DAMAGED!

Today the items were recovered but alot of stuffed was removed from the trailers and mowers making them non operable until repairs can be made now I have to find a way to get money to try and start repairing them so I can try to get back to work.

Hi, my name is Coy Hughes, and I’m a father of five, a fiancé, and the sole provider for my family — including my disabled, bedridden mother-in-law who lives with us. I never thought I’d be here asking for help, but life has pushed us to the edge, and I’m doing everything I can to keep my family afloat.

A few years ago, I had back surgery after years of physical labor. Instead of getting better, I was left in chronic pain and unable to return to roofing or construction work — the only kind of work I’d ever known. But I couldn’t just give up. My family depends on me.

So I started a small property preservation business — mowing, yard cleanups, debris removal, winterizations, and light repairs on vacant homes. I built it from the ground up, piece by piece, using a trailer, two zero-turn mowers, and tools I managed to buy secondhand. It wasn’t much, but it was our lifeline.

We were just getting by — paying bills, feeding the kids, and keeping a roof over our heads. But with five children and a household that depends entirely on me, it’s always been a daily fight. Lately, work has slowed down, and we’ve been falling behind on bills. Still, we held on — doing everything we could to keep going.

Then disaster struck.

Just when I finally got a work order — a chance to bring in some income — I went to pick up my equipment, and everything was gone. My trailer, both mowers all the equipment i owned — stolen from the farm where I stored them. My friend’s trailer was taken too. With no insurance (I simply couldn’t afford it), it was a total loss.

That equipment was my entire business. Without it, I can’t work. I can’t earn. And now we’re in danger of losing everything — including our home.

I’m trying to raise $20,000 to replace what was stolen so I can get back to work and keep providing for my family. That includes new commercial mowers, a trailer, the basic tools I need to rebuild. I’ve filed a police report, and I’m more than willing to show documentation to anyone who wants proof. I understand how important trust is, and I want people to know this is real — I’m not trying to scam anyone. I just want to work and take care of my family.

If you’re able to help — whether through a donation, a share, or simply spreading the word — it means the world to us. Your support gives us a real chance to start over.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

With gratitude,
Coy Hughes
