COVID-19-Emergency Fund for Child Care

Minnesota’s family child care providers are on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic. They are the unsung heroes who are taking care of our children so their parents, those with essential jobs — who can’t stay home — can continue to work for the benefit of us all. In this moment of crisis, they are continuing to care for the children of health care professionals, emergency personnel and other employees who are absolutely necessary to keep us healthy and safe.
The situation the world is facing is scary. It’s overwhelming. We’ve heard so many people say they want to help, but they don’t know how. This is one way that those who want to do their part, and have the financial capability to do so, can have a huge impact. The need is big, but we want to challenge you to help us raise funds so we can give $1,000 to at least 20 family child care programs during this unprecedented time.
Many of the 2,700+ family child care providers in the seven-county metro area were in financial crisis and struggling to stay open before the pandemic. While some have had to make the gut-wrenching decision to close, others are bravely doing everything they can to stay open and provide a crucial service as we fight COVID-19.
As an agency, we are working to find ongoing funding, but these dedicated family child care providers need your help NOW. If you are able to donate, it will make all the difference in the world to a program in your neighborhood, and to the health care workers and other essential personnel who are able to keep doing their jobs for the benefit of society.
