My name is Amy Chin, I live in North Reading, MA, and I teach family music classes for little ones and their caregivers.
I believe that music is community. And I believe that tough times make communities stronger. I am hoping to raise money and awareness for our community food pantry in this time of crisis.
The gofundme link is for the North Reading Food Pantry. You can simply click, and make a monetary donation which will allow them to purchase supplies at the Greater Boston Food Bank.
Or you can donate items directly. The food pantry needs all the items that have been wiped out at the grocery stores: Cleaning supplies, Lysol, hand sanitizer, white tuna, hearty canned soups, cereal, oatmeal, 100% juice (large and juice box size), etc. These items can be donated directly at the North Reading Stop and Shop and the Post Office.
If you are in another town, please give to your local food pantry if you are able.
And if there are any frazzled parents or caregivers looking for structured activities to do with their little ones, I have uploaded a video of an in-home music class to the Sound Play webpage: http://www.sound-play-music.com/. I hope it makes someone's day a little brighter :). I also heartily recommend copious amounts of spontaneous dance parties, and banging on pots and pans (whether you have kids or not!) The headache is worth it- believe me, you will feel better ;).
