To help cover costs medication and travel expenses

Hi, my name is Stephanie Taylor and I am fundraising for some support for a dear man to me Bill MacQuarrie. Bill MacQuarrie has been a diabetic for many years but recently diagnosed with stage 5 kidney disease and going through CT scans for the lungs as a mass has been detected. Bill hasn’t smoked for about 40 years. He has been an underground miner for the last 40 years in Flin Flon, Manitoba and has since retired. Ever since then it seems like life has just thrown him one curve ball after another. It breaks my heart to see such a strong man so vulnerable. Bill is the strongest and most selfless man I know. He is a wonderful father, husband, grandfather, uncle, brother and friend! His children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews mean the world to him. We all wish we could take away his pain and heal his condition. Unfortunately, we can’t and his medical coverage doesn't, cover the costs of all his medications and travel expenses. We live in a remote community and his doctors who have been amazing are 6 hours away. He is receiving a lot of support from friends and family but there is only so much we can do. There is a lot of traveling due to appointments, monthly medication bills that his pension and benefits just doesn’t cover. If you are able to help donate to help relief some stresses of this amazing family, anything would be appreciated. All the money will go directly to Bill and Elaine to cover there expenses.
I would like to add this post his wife Elaine wrote on social media; and this too just broke my heart. It explains the hardship, the issues of our medical system in the north! So many prayers are needed for this family and to any other family who maybe going through similar situations!
Elaine: What is on my mind? Everything! The border between Saskatchewan and Manitoba how people have to struggle to get medicines paid because its not covered , yes I have blue cross but they don’t cover them! I can’t imagine what people with no insurance go through.. it is Canada for god sakes! No one knows this until they walk it . I think that anyone with chronic condition should not be worrying about this .. People are just trying to get better .. I will be calling the MLA sometime today because their are other people in my community which we are in border town that cannot uses our hospital , when living Saskatchewan for dialysis .. what I was told yesterday was that this person has to stay in Saskatchewan for 6 weeks then be transferred to Winnipeg and be assisted by another doctor there and stay down in Winnipeg for a month just to get dialysis in our border town . That is bullshi*t! (Creighton, is only 10 minutes away ). Never mind the 10 hour drive back and forth all the time to Winnipeg and for god Sakes, if they forget to call you to say the appointment is canceled , sh*t thats a long way to drive for nothing .. it hurts my souls people are fighting for their lives and hitting barriers like this ..Hopefully talking to MLA today will wake up the awareness what its like to live in a border town with chronic conditions. I just can’t sit back and do nothing! There other people walking this , besides us ! .. Hopefully, this will get changed because your whole life is getting flipped upside down and why should you care because it could happen to anyone ! Things you don’t know when you get sick .. we are stage 5 kidney disease.. some people will say just travel to Winnipeg but what they don’t realize is all my family is in Saskatchewan and we have an amazing team of doctors and nurses there that are amazing, ( like how many doctors call you just to check in, to see how you are doing, not to many).I should not have to hit these barriers ..second thing is I also have family and friends here in Manitoba that I love and adore ! .. sorry but no one should have to walk this .. thank you for letting me share .. keep praying for strength.. I have been blessed by so many beautiful people! Keep shining everyone and go one day at time. Be kind to one another because you don’t know what anyone is walking in their life!
