Hi Friends and Family!
I am starting this Go-Fund me page for my upcoming YWAM outreach trip! I am leaving January 28th, 2016 and returning July 17th, 2016!
If you are unfamiliar with this organization, YWAM stands for youth with a mission. They are stationed in various places all around the world and offer students the opportunity to be a part of a missions team, excercising humanitarian aid and global outreach.
This trip is divided into two parts: the first three months will be spent on base in Australia where I will be learning alongside other students, growing in faith and personal relationship with God and learning to share his compassion to those around me. The remaining three months will be spent on outreach in a country in the 10/40 window.
I first heard about YWAM two years ago through my youth pastor while discussing my plans after graduation. When he brought it up to me I was intrigued at first and wanted to know more, but the idea of leaving home for an extended period of time on my own scared me. I’m not good with change and the thought of not knowing anyone so far from home, over such an extended period of time had me dismissing the entire idea. I put it in the back of my mind for a long time, but here and there at church and through family and friends, I kept hearing many positive stories of people who had experienced YWAM. Even still, I would continue to push it away and was comfortable with the way my life was going.
God had other plans though, because last February when I found out my cousin had applied to YWAM in Australia, the prospect of going with someone I knew, caused me to consider the idea again. Even though I was still quite anxious, I made the decision to trust God in this and go ahead and put in my application. I also knew that if I didn't take this opportunity now while I’m young then I may miss out on it forever. I definitely feel that this missions opportunity is something that I’ve been led to do from the very first time I heard about it. I'm not gonna lie, it's only a couple months away and I am still very fearful about going away for six months. Leaving my friends and family is hard for me as I can get homesick very easily.
Here’s where you come in. I would greatly welcome your prayers to give me courage and safety on this journey, both to and from the base, and especially while on outreach as we will likely be placed in nations experiencing extreme poverty and hardship.
Also, please keep in prayer the financial provision as each student is responsible for their own funding.
2015 has been a year of working hard and serious saving, but I still have a way to go in covering the costs of both the lecture and outreach phase. Any amount you are able to contribute is very appreciated.
