Courain's CTEC, benefiting Outdoor Gientai

Together with my husband, Aaron, we will be taking on the Canal Challenge to cycle the 360 miles of the Erie Canalway from Buffalo, NY to Albany, NY. Our goal is to ride the length in a single push, taking our legs and our minds beyond their limits.
With this challenge, we're raising donations for Outdoor Gientai (Outdoor Relief Group) to help those affected by the coronavirus.
About Outdoor Gientai
Aaron and I are members of the New York Adventure Racing Association, which is greatly supported by Montbell US - outdoor gear focused on "Light & Fast®" without compromising on quality, durability or function. Montbell also gives back to the global community. In 1995, Montbell's CEO founded a disaster relief effort “Outdoor Gientai”, meaning “outdoor relief group” in Japanese, and called upon other companies within the outdoor industry to pool resources. Outdoor Gientai continues to provide disaster relief in Japan and internationally, doing everything that it can with the resources available.
Unfortunately, and as we all know, this year has created great need for relief efforts in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and a global shortage of medical supplies. In response to COVID-19, Montbell and Outdoor Gientai have donated medical gowns and face shields (over 37,000 combined pieces have been donated as of mid-June) and have been coordinating with medical institutions to verify if its supply of rain jackets and pants can be used as a safe substitute for medical gowns in certain circumstances. In addition, they also maintain a stockpile of outdoor clothing and equipment ready for donating in the event of a disaster.
Our Passion
While we're passionate about Montbell, we feel an even bigger passion and purpose to raise donations to support the relief efforts that they and Outdoor Gientai continue to provide. While we can wrap our heads around cycling 360 miles non-stop, we can't possibly understand the breadth and depth the impact of our current pandemic, let alone any singular disaster. It's thanks to initiatives like that of Outdoor Gientai to give back in those times. Our goal, in addition to completing the Canal Challenge, is to successfully raise donations to provide to their relief alliance, whether that is for relief during the ongoing pandemic or future disaster relief efforts.
