Costa Rica Spay and Neuter Relief Trip

SPAY/NEUTER RELIEF TRIP - Our goal is to spay and neuter 500 dogs & cats in need who don't have access to vet services. In partnership with our hospital (CCAH) plus our 3 sister hospitals in Atlantic Canada (OVH, KRAH, CBSAH) there is a group of 14 of us heading to Costa Rica for a week in November to volunteer our time and services to provide care to these animals. The organization we are going there to help is PAWS (Pets of Aguirre Welfare Shelter). PAWS is a non-profit animal welfare organization that provides much needed services to the dog and cat populations in and around Quespos, Costa Rica. In 2020, this amazing organization, which consists of all volunteers, spayed and neutered 2332 dogs and cats in the Quepos area. Not only do they spay/neuter thousands of cats and dogs every year, they also rescue hundreds of dogs, cats, puppies and kittens and prepare them for adoption, as well as promote animal welfare education both in the classroom and in the streets.

Our goal with this campaign is to raise money to cover all medical and surgical expenses for the animals.  Paws is providing transportation for the pets, promotion, appointment booking and on the ground logistics. We will be working with a local veterinarian as well.
