CORY'S COMEBACK

On December 29th, 2025, Cory suffered a spinal cord injury. Cory got up to go to work. While getting ready he felt a pop in his neck and severe pain. EMT's transported him to Hartford Hospital where he under went emergency surgery only to awake and be told he had suffered a spinal cord injury, removing C6 & C7 discs and was paralyzed and might never walk again. Cory also had no use of his hands, but was awake and talking. The following day December 30th, Cory underwent another emergency surgery to address issues from the 1st surgery the day before only to wake up on a ventilator and heavily sedated. He remained on the ventilator for a week and a half, struggling with pneumonia before replacing it with a trach tube and ventilator.

On January 14th, good news finally arrived and Cory was transported to Gaylord Rehab. There he has continued to improve, and today still has a trach and respiratory issues but is breathing on his own, talking, eating and on his way to recovery. Learning how to live his new life.

Cory is a 34 year old electriction by day, an avid snowboarder on weekends, loves to play and watch soccer, ultimate frisbee, quading with his cousin and friends, a Miami Dolphins fan, and is on a bowling league. Cory loves to challenge himself with Tough Mutter races and other 5k,10k racing events. He will undoubtedly face this challenge with the same enthusiasm as he does everything else.

Cory always has a smile, a kid a heart, loves adventure and fun. Even from his hospital bed he is quick with a smile and joke.

Cory's brother Chis had said "Over the last week I've watched this kid demonstrate a level of strength and willpower that I didn't know was humanly possible." This is how we all feel.

With this next step of his journey still unfolding the realization of what has happened is settling in. We are facing this new way of life and the challenges that will be presented with high hopes. It is unclear what the future will bring, but Cory is not one to accept defeat.

Right now our goal is to raise funds to help Cory on his long road to recovery, however that might look, (medical equipment, home modifications, medical expenses, relieving financial stress etc.) and intensive rehabilitation and therapy to help him with the best chance of recovery.

On behalf of Cory and family I want to thank you for joining us on this journey!! Your generosity and support in whatever ways it may come will truly help make a differences in his life.
