Dear Friends,
We are writing to ask for your support for our grassroots Covid-19 relief efforts on Martha’s Vineyard known as CORONASTOMPERS. We are a group of volunteers, seamstresses, and donors organized to produce, provide and safely distribute protective gear to the Island’s essential workers. Our initial objective was to be a short-term free supply hub for re-useable cloth masks, single use masks, N95 masks, safety glasses, hospital caps, gloves, and face shields.
This was our emergency response to unprotected frontline workers in immediate danger. Now we must turn our efforts to helping the community at large.
Supporting essential workers will remain at the heart of CORONASTOMPERS’ mission, but our goal now is to become all-inclusive. CORONASTOMPERS’ next phase of community protection is to make masks and appropriate gear available to every Vineyard resident in need.
Thus far we have spent over $8,000 on the cloth mask drive. We have also purchased more than $2,000 of additional PPE (gloves, safety glasses, single use masks, and N95 masks) online for distribution. Though we have successfully raised almost $9,000 through GoFundMe, our costs are significantly higher than our donations and we will not be able to continue our work without financial assistance.
We need your support. Currently our supply costs are greater than our donations. We are applying for help through 501(c)3 status, which will allow us to apply for grant funding, but in the meantime, we must rely on private donations to keep up our efforts. We have more than 200 requests for masks and we cannot provide them because we cannot afford supplies.
Please help us keep our beloved Island community safe as we navigate the complicated days ahead, any donation will be most appreciated.
