Corey deserves bath time

Hello all, 

my name is Tricia; this is Corey’s big sister. While a lot of people around the county know our sweet guy, some may not. 

Corey was born with a brain malformation called Holoprosensephaly (hpe) for short.  Corey wasn’t expected to live long after birth but this coming June he will be celebrating his 19th birthday!!!

My mother is 61 years old, she cares for him full time, she’s a superhero! Corey is completely wheelchair bound, He is unable to walk, talk, and unable to feed or bathe himself. 

Kansas medicaid has failed him. My mother used to be able to bathe him in sinks or the bathtub but he’s becoming to large to lift. She asked them to help her get him a better bathroom setup for his wheelchair and a better way to bathe him. They’ve kept denying saying bathing isn’t going to improve his quality of life and is in no way a necessity-bed baths could work just fine.

Coreys been put through the ringer, and honestly my mother has too. A child who has tone issues and a recent hip surgery isn’t allowed to soak in a bathtub. Not to mention he’s a carrier of mrsa. Water therapy is a good way to not only relax his tight muscles from being stiff as a board but that relaxation also helps with his digestion and to calm acid reflux. 

My mother has no idea I’ve created this page for Corey but I couldn’t think of any two people who are more deserving of this bathroom remodel than them.
