Please support Conchy Blanco as she recovers from surgery
Spende geschützt
I met Conchy and Freddy Blanco in 2006, just after we adopted Mia. I placed an ad on the local neighborhood Yahoo group (yes, it was THAT long ago) for someone to help me clean and organize our apartment for Mia's naming ceremony. I received only one response, recommending 'a lovely husband and wife team' who were hardworking, reliable, and trustworthy.
They came to our apartment shortly thereafter - Conchy pregnant with her now almost 18-year-old daughter. Conchy and Freddy have been working with us ever since - first the two of them and afterwards, just Conchy alone. Over the years, we got to know each other. They emigrated to the U.S. from El Salvador, and along with their older daughter, built a home together in Yonkers. Conchy is a deeply religious person, who starts every message to me with 'si dios me lo permite....' She is generous, kind, hardworking, and proud.
Conchy is devoted to her family. She recently returned to El Salvador to take care of her mother who had heart bypass surgery. Her elder daughter separated from her husband, and she and her two young children now live with Conchy and Freddy in their small apartment.
Conchy has had many challenges to her health over the years I've known her. Last year, she was diagnosed with breast cancer and continued to work while she was going through radiation treatment. As you may know, just recently, the doctors told her she would need a double mastectomy. The surgery took place on September 17th. She will be out of work for at least two months.
When talking about her surgery, she also let me know that both her daughters and her grandchildren were in a serious car accident. Two cars hit the car they were driving. They are all OK, but their car was damaged beyond repair.
I started this fundraiser out of my tremendous affection and caring for this hardworking family. And especially for Conchy, who seems to face every challenge with gratitude for what she has been given, and faith that all will be well.
If you are able, please help me support them during this challenging time.
Thank you,
Michelle
