My dear friend of many years is currently walking through the difficult effects of mold toxicity with her precious family of 7, in their home and affecting their bodies.

Rooms in their basement, 1st and 2nd floors (including bathrooms and kitchen) and attic all have mold in floors, walls and ceilings, and in order to continue living in their home, they need full remediation and renovation in each of those rooms. This treatment costs $27,900 plus the replacement of many of their possessions as any type of porous material holds and spread mold even after remediation. We are asking our community to come together to help them recover their home and health. This must be done quickly because one of their sons in particular is suffering the most from the effects of toxic mold in his system.

I deeply wish I could just come up with a quick 30k to take this burden off of them, so I’m hoping that creating this will do just that! Here’s a little bit of her story-

“In 2022, we were renting a home for a nine month period while our 4th baby was 5 months old. While we were living there, we noticed that he wasn't meeting milestones anymore.

Not sitting up when he was supposed to, crawling was super late.

His body was very tight and he struggled to even get into the crawling position.

He did start to say a few words, and communicate with signing.

Then he started producing very heavy urine diapers that smelled strongly of ammonia.

As the year went on though, he stopped talking, signing, and he started stimming at everything, every emotion. He hit 2 years old and wasn't walking. Still not sleeping through the night. We were puzzled at his struggles.

After many months of researching potential issues, we learned about the effects of mold on young immune systems and many symptoms pointed to what our son was/is experiencing. So this past July, we (out of pocket) ran a mold lab and that's where everything started coming together. His body was completely overtaken by mold. When we lived in that rental, we had a hunch that there was mold, and it was confirmed with an inspection. We just had no idea then what mold could actually do to a person.

We started him on a pediatrician guided mold treatment in August, and he's been on it for the last almost 6 months. And to no surprise, he’s talking!! He's engaging with us again. He's a different child than he was in July. Every day he says more. His stimming has gone WAY down. I can't begin to describe the relief that these labs and treatment have brought us.

With that being said, his pediatrician suggested that we have our current home (we bought a home in April 2024) re-checked for mold. By re-check, I mean, we already ran a mold inspection with our initial home inspection. Turns out those are not as thorough as we thought, because after the new inspection, now we're looking at needing not just a cleaning done, but multiple rooms (kitchen/bathrooms/specific walls) demo’d and having to start over. We need to completely replace ductwork in our downstairs unit and clean the ductwork upstairs, which is a separate cost than this remediation quote that we're going to have to finance.

Right now, my son is still on his mold treatment, as recommended by his pediatrician until we've done the remediation. But this cost is completely crippling to even start. So this is where my dear friend offered to start this Gofundme as a way to help us make our home a safe place for our son and the rest of our family.

Mold may not be affecting my other children the same way that it is for my son, but I know that it is in other ways. A clean and safe home for all my children is all I desire and feel crippled on how to get there.”

As funds allow, they will begin scheduling demo starting with the basement.

Once that is fully remediated, they will move to the 1st floor rooms, then the 2nd floor rooms and finally the attic.
