Hello, my name is Max. I stayed with this family through Workaway in the summer of 2025. We worked on their chicken coop project. Unfortunately, there are still some gaps in the project, which is why I decided to start a fundraising campaign for them, as they have limited resources themselves. The money raised would directly benefit the family, enabling them to provide themselves and neighboring families with eggs and chicken in the future. The project is located on the island of Mfangano in Lake Victoria, Kenya.

1. Introduction

This fundraising seeks financial support to establish a community-based poultry farm focusing on 300 improved Kienyeji chickens. The project aims to improve local food security, create income opportunities, and promote sustainable agriculture practices among community members.

Poultry farming is one of the most accessible and profitable agricultural ventures for smallholder farmers. With proper management, it can generate regular income, provide nutritious food (eggs and meat), and create employment opportunities, especially for women and youth.

Many thanks to the donors. Thanks to your financial support, we have already been able to vaccinate our existing flock of chickens and secure their feed supply. We have also been able to purchase and plant seeds for fodder crops to ensure a sustainable supply of chicken feed.

Our next goal is to purchase a solar-powered pump to provide a constant water supply for the farm, ensuring that the plants receive enough water even during dry periods.
