Community Leader in Medical Need

Donna P. Berry is founder of A Place for Hope, the 501 C 3 Community Resource Center in the impoverished Blackmon Road Community in York County, SC and named after community matriarch Hope Whitlock. Donna, who has been the recipient of the WBT and CN2 Hometown Hero Awards, has recently had to undergo 4 back surgeries and 4 hospitalizations for Refractory ITP, a blood platelet count disease, which is currently in remission. Her back problems initially appeared after falling into a septic tank hole being dug by volunteers at Hope's house! She has overdue and ongoing medical expenses and is disabled and homebound, making it difficult to keep up with the mortgage and all of the other monthly fixed expenses. Please find it in your heart to give back to someone who has always paid it forward to help others in need in her local community and beyond!
