Hello! We are asking for financial support in order to make food more accessible to students and community members who have been impacted by COVID-19. We are a volunteer run group of students and other community members working to deliver free food to community members who are facing barriers to accessing it.

In Brief: COVID-19 has left many in our community financially strained, and has exacerbated existing food insecurity. We have arranged partnerships with the Food Distribution Warehouse, The UVic Sustainability Project and local grocery stores to provide free food hampers for delivery to students and community members. Volunteer drivers will pick up food from participating locations and transport it to a central location where it will be safely sorted into individual hampers. We have outlined detailed health and safety standards for volunteers participating in the program to ensure it is as safe as possible. Students and community members who are facing barriers to accessing food can fill out a google form and request a free box for pick up or delivery.
Why we need funds: We have received a donation to cover most supplies from the the UVic Sustainability Project, and all food will be donated. We are looking to raise some more funds to cover the cost of insurance for using the Fairfield Community Center, to create a pool a money available to subsidize gas money for volunteer drivers who will be delivering the hampers, as well as potentially add some more staples, and dietary restriction options to the hampers.
