Senior Isolation - Another Threat to the Health of a Vulnerable Population 

The COVID-19 pandemic has exacerbated the social isolation of seniors not only from the general public but even from the company of their loved ones. Senior isolation can negatively affect both physical and mental health. Loneliness can contribute to cognitive decline and increase the risk of dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. Now with the necessity of cutting off all non-medically necessary visits, more seniors are at risk of social isolation than before.

MyndVR’s Mission

MyndVR has partnered with Pico and Littlstar to donate 50  MyndVR packages to 50 senior living communities across the U.S. in an effort to combat isolation among our aging population who simultaneously must remain protected against COVID-19. The MyndVR package is specifically meant for one-on-one interactions, and allows seniors to use the system independently. Each package includes all the hardware, software, content, training & support! However, we’d like to do even more. Help us raise funds so we can give more MyndVR packages to more nursing homes, and help seniors feel less lonely and isolated.

Our initial goal is to raise $15,000, which will allow us to give 25 more packages to 25 more senior living communities. Basically, for every $600 we raise, another system will be sent to another nursing home! This money helps us cover some hard costs, train the recipient caregivers, and provide follow-up support. There is no minimum contribution and every dollar counts. Each package includes:

- One Pico VR headset loaded with the MyndVR system
- One caregiver tablet controller
- One-year subscription to the MyndVR content library, including Littlstar 360 videos
- Training & Support

The headsets are designed to be easy to clean and hygienic for mass use. MyndVR provides training on how to properly sanitize each headset between uses by including both print instructions and video tutorials to show where it’s most important to clean and best materials to use for sanitization. MyndVR also includes alcohol wipes to ensure each care community has proper sanitizing material to get started.
