Colm's Run for the Community

Running the Dublin Marathon has long been an ambition of mine and I figured, given the year of my 30th, what better year to do it.

If I'm going to do this, I thought I'd turn a personal goal into a cause from which others can benefit. If you had a spare £, € or $, every bit of your contribution will go towards the really worthwhile G20 Youth Festival. For more information about the charity, keep reading below. 

To everyone who does make a contribution, thank you so, so much. I've seen the work that happens with the G20 Youth Festival first-hand and I can assure you it's worth it.

The G20 Youth Festival is a postcode based youth club led by young people in Maryhill, Glasgow. The project was founded in 2018 and aims to empower young people to develop their passions and interests and to reach their potential. We co-ordinate diversionary activities for young people such as climbing, hip hop, forest school and graffiti. Our approach has been influenced by the work of the  Violence Reduction Unit and the Swedish Youth Festival Mitt127.

 

The project has grown out of The Children's Wood charity and evolved through working with young people outdoors on the Children's Wood and Meadow and in the wider community. Through working with young people in this way we have learned more about their needs and wishes and this has led to us finding an indoor base: The G20 Youth House.

 

Developing relationships and building trust with young people is at the heart of the G20 Youth Festival; the Adverse Childhood Experiences research has impacted our work and how we approach our young people. 




Colm Keegan has been incredibly generous over the years supporting our charity, it's through acts of kindness like this that we can achieve more for our young people and help them be the best they can be. We'll be rooting for you Colm. Thank you xx
