Since 2011, Collette, a young woman with Down Syndrome, has been creating her own recipe for cookies for fun. But after graduating from a program at Clemson University, she excitedly hit the job market seeking employment, but was sadly rejected over and over again, being told she was "not a good fit." Collette wasn’t going to let that stop her from finding success in the job market.

As a very determined young lady, she decided to see if anyone wanted to buy her cookies and made her own job opportunity. Little did she know her talent and passion for baking could become a business and her determination would be admired by all across the world. At the end of 2016, she took her specialty, the Amazing Cookie, to a local market, convinced them to stock it on their shelves, and officially launched her own business: Collettey’s Cookies.

Collette has become an inspiration to all individuals with and without disabilities as well as families and advocates. She not only wants to change the world's views to see abilities not disabilities, but Collette also wants to lower the unemployment rate for those with disabilities too. Currently, 80% of people with disabilities are unemployed, but not for long if Collette has anything to do about that!

Collette has aligned herself with one of the largest market chains in North America. She is starting with the local stores in MA and New England, TJ Maxx, Marshalls, Star Market, Shaws, StopnShop, ShopRite...! Collette's just landed two very large accounts that can scale her company to more product, more sales and more jobs! She needs immediate resources to meet the demand for production and inventory. She has the capacity but not the working capital. And in the interim, she is interviewing people with disabilities for employment!

Collette’s dream is to take Collettey’s Cookies nationwide and employ thousands of more people. It may sound hard, but Collette is up for the challenge. She’s a tough cookie!
