Dear friends, family, and kind-hearted supporters,

My name is Wesner Caries, and I was born in the beautiful mountain town of Fonds-Verrettes, Haiti — a place filled with strength, warmth, and community spirit. Today, I am reaching out with a heavy heart after witnessing the devastation caused by Hurricane Melissa, which has left my hometown in deep distress.

In recent days, massive flooding and landslides have struck Fonds-Verrettes, washing away homes, schools, and farmland. Roads are blocked, families are stranded, and children are left without basic needs like food, water, and shelter. For a small and isolated community like Fonds-Verrettes, this disaster has created a humanitarian crisis.

As someone who grew up there, I know how resilient and hopeful the people of Fonds-Verrettes are. But this time, they face challenges beyond their capacity. The town doesn’t even have a single tractor or bulldozer to clear the roads or remove debris. People are trying to rebuild with their bare hands, holding on to faith and hope.

That’s why I’ve launched this GoFundMe campaign — “The Caries Family Fundraising for Fonds-Verrettes.” Our goal is to raise $150,000 to purchase heavy and light equipment (tractors, trucks, bulldozers, pioches, and cleaning materials), and to provide immediate assistance such as food, clean water, and emergency supplies for affected families. Every contribution will directly support recovery efforts in Fonds-Verrettes.

This campaign is about more than rebuilding roads — it’s about restoring hope to a town that has suffered for decades. It’s about showing our brothers and sisters in Fonds-Verrettes that they are not forgotten, that love and solidarity can overcome distance and hardship.
