Colchester Santa's Sleigh
Given the success of Santa’s Sleigh in Colchester during the summer on behalf of the Colchester Food Bank, Santa is making a return this Christmas to complete the remaining four routes raising much needed funds for several Colchester charities that he would usually support during this time of the year.
Members of the Colchester Round Table 367 have again agreed to assisting Santa with this worthy task as they have done so for more than 40 years. Santa's Sleigh will take place on four nights between 14th to 17th December, starting at 6pm each evening. The areas that will be covered include Shrub End, Wheatfield, St Michaels Estate, and West Bergholt. You can view Santa’s route maps by clicking here .
Santa understands that social distancing rules are changing all of the time but has insisted that he is healthy enough to at least complete the four nights with Colchester Round Table 367 in a way that adheres to all social distancing rules.
To protect Santa, his elves, and all of those who want to donate to the supported charities, all donations will be taken through a JustGiving web page. Santa and his elves will ride through each neighbourhood spreading Christmas cheer and waving at the good people of Colchester.
The charities that will benefit from your donations to Colchester Round Table 367 include St Helenas, Ladies Circle, Night Shelter, Robin Cancer Trust, Tom Bowdidge Foundation and Colchester Food Bank.
Details of the whereabouts of the sleigh on each night will be available via an online tracker and published on this page.
All donations no matter how small will be greatly appreciated. Charities have been some of the worst affected during this pandemic and we want to do all we can to support them during these trying times.
Unlike our usual eight night military operation at Christmas, we kindly ask you not to approach the sleigh to speak to Santa or the elves. Rest assured that he already knows who the good boys and girls are and their presents will be waiting under their trees on Christmas day. There will be plenty of cheerful music to help keep spirits high on each night.
Please do come and wave, but please maintain your distance between others in your street.
