I have had the pleasure of having Lauren as one of my best friends for over a year now. I met her through work. She's has one of the biggest hearts out of anyone I have ever met. When I met her son Lincoln, I instantly fell in love. He's so sweet. He takes after his mom when it comes to how he cares for others. Chase came into the picture a little after that. He does everything he possibly can to make their hopes and dreams come true. He stepped right up to become such a wonderful father, as well as a fantastic fiance. Together they make such a perfect family. When Lauren found out she was pregnant it was such blessing! All three of them, as well as their family and friends, are all so excited to welcome a sweet boy into the world. No one ever expected anything to be wrong.
Cohen has been diagnosed with a condition called bilateral multicystic dysplastic kidney disease. In simple terms his kidneys are enlarged. They also have cysts on them. Lauren has very low amneotic fluid as well. This makes it to where his lungs are not developing. Doctors both in Cape and St. Louis had said he would have no chance for survival. By the grace of God, Lauren and Chase have been put in contact with Cincinnati Children's Hospital. They will be going and meeting with doctors there who believe they will be able to do dialysis on Cohen once he is born if he has some lung development and can make it to 5 pounds.
As fantastic as this news is, Lauren will have to relocate to Cincinnati once she reaches 34 weeks. Chase will not be able to go as he has to stay home to work and take care of Lincoln.
Lauren and Chase constantly go out of their way to help other people. I feel like it would be beneficial to come together to help them in their time of need. They would never ask for help at all. I want them to be able to help pay bills and focus on each other and there family. I also think it could be beneficial if Chase could be able to go spend some time in Cincinnati. If it's possible for Lincoln to go, I think that would be great too. I just don't want them to feel any burdens other than the one placed in front of them.
Keep Lauren, Chase, Lincoln, and Cohen in your thoughts and prayers!
